Doooooooooooooooh
I just bought my thinkpad t42p. Today I got up and walked away and my foot caught on the power cord. Down she came. She seems to be allright except I just noticed a little crack on the plastic plate where your wrists rest as you type. Woe is me! I know it's a small thing but is there a way to get a replacement plastic plate? I know I will stare at the [censored] crack every time I open my thinkpad.
Anyways I'm happy the thing still works! These things are built tough. Poor Lucy came down with a crash. Yes, I named her Lucy and no, I don't think that's sad and a little pathetic.

Yes. I believe you can purchase pretty much every part of TP separately from IBM. Which is one of the things that I love about IBM.
Anyways, you will probably have to find the service part number (FRU) for your palm rest.
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46474
if you go to the link, there is the FRU for the palm w/o touchpad.
For installation you can also view the removal and installation movie here:
