X31 frozen screen prob'

#1 Post by runningman » Thu May 14, 2009 12:36 am

Hello there, after singing the praises of my X31, I predictably, have a problem! Last night as I was loading a new install of a laptop adaptor card onto XP I noted that the battery warning light was low, so I plugged into mains and carried on. However, I noticed that the warning symbol was still flashing, so I plugged into other mains in living room just in case. After plugging back in I accidently pressed the power button and Windows came up with the "Preparing to standby" message. Unfortunately, it has been saying this now for 7 hours! The cursor is still able to move around the screen as it stands. The green battery symbol is on, and the little house/tree with the 'A' is lit up, as is the circle with the 'Z' in the centre.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. when I was installing the card my antivirus (Commodo) was getting itself very wound up, and kept constantly butting in and trying to block the installation.

If you press the power button for 6-7 seconds, will it shutdown?

Just got it to work at the fourth attempt! Phew! :-0. Any ideas why it happened and what I can do to stop it happening again? Can't thank you enough.
