Screw placements on T61 notebooks

#1 Post by Ding » Thu May 14, 2009 9:35 pm

Hi,

I bought a T61 for university a year ago, but I've never really examined the bottom until recently. Under the ultrabay, right below the support, there appears to be a hole with grooves. This suggests to me that a screw should be placed there, but since I didn't really pay attention to this before I'm not sure if by default the screw is absent, or if it came loose and fell off.

Thanks!

Yes, there should be a hex head screw in there to stop the release mechanism for the ultrabay from opening (like an additional security measure). But the computer works just fine without it.

Welcome to the forum.

You don't want a screw in that hole, that's a security hole that prevents ultrabay from opening when the screw is inserted.

Great, I'll just disregard the hole then. Thanks for your help!
