I am really getting fed up with the combination of Vista, and 2 external monitors using the advanced mini-dock.
Every time I start the computer or resume from hibernate, its like musical monitors. Between the 2 externals, and the laptop monitor, you never know which ones will actually be the 2 to come on. I often have to go into the settings and readjust everything. Windows get resized the the laptop monitor's resolution, etc. Anyway, Lenovo should have done a much better job on this.
Anyway, I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 7. It's the first Microsoft product that I have heard good things about in years. From what I have read, Vista drivers should work.
I couldn't find anything specific here about it.
Can anyone provide info about the W7 drivers? Is there something that won't work right?

Re: Windows 7 Questions
George:
I began using the Windows 7 Beta a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Last week I downloaded the 32 bit version of Windows 7 RC 1. All I can say from my personal observation, the system runs great. Many of the Lenovo drivers that you would normally need are built right into Win-7. There are a few that you can get from the Lenovo update web site... I would get the Vista versions of Power Manager, UltraNav, Hard Drive Protection, and you will need the System interface and the Hotkey drivers. I also installed the Vista ATI video card software package as well as the Audio goodies. It's really up to you as to what you want to use. Like I said, many of the features are built in and the Lenovo toys do work, however, I still like the regular Lenovo branded stuff.
I've installed numerous programs and thus far all have worked great. Win7 boots fast and once up and running, it moves along really well..... Faster then XP as far as I'm concerned. Oh, also, before installing Win-7, I installed and ran up Partition Magic and created a 50 gig partition.... I installed Win7, making my T-60 dual boot with XP /Win7. I have been using Win7 mostly all the time and love it.
Oh, one more thing. I also installed Access Connections and it also works great.... This is of course up to you since Win7 will get you on line without the added software. Now, go and install and enoy. I think we have a winner here...
Don't mind my misspelled words as I'm working in a dark room and can't use my Think-Light at this time
Best to you, Steve

Re: Windows 7 Questions
Ok, I got everything working except the Verizon WWAN and the AMT.
I ONLY installed 3 things from Lenovo. The driver for the SD car reader, System Interface Driver, and On Screen Display. Everything else was recognized by Windows 7.
I couldn't get switchable graphics working from within windows. I installed the power manager, and tried switchable graphics, but it didn't work. It even made my system freeze when I set the BIOS to ATI. I eneded up formatting and installing Windows 7 again bu without power manager.
So 4 questions:
1. How do I get Verizon WWAN working? I could not find the drivers that worked.
2. How I get AMT working? I couldn't find working drivers for this either.
3. How can I make switchable graphics work?
4. I installed on screen display, and it initially worked, but now FN+F5, etc don't work. Volume and brightness do work. Any ideas?

Try this thread. The workaround in post #6 has been working reliably for me.kingweb wrote:4. I installed on screen display, and it initially worked, but now FN+F5, etc don't work. Volume and brightness do work. Any ideas?
