The port on my Thinkpad 600 seems to be blocked or covered. How do I get the cover off? Or maybe it does not exist. The control panel shows that it is installed. I would normally expect to see a sort of dark-red plastic cover of some sort, but there is just a black piece of plastic. :?:

The cover on my ThinkPad looks real dark and opaque, but infrared seems to go through it fine. I've never heard of any ThinkPads having the port covered with something the beams can't go through, so just try sending through the port and seeing if it works.

Thanks for the info. I was ready to pry it off with a nail-file. I haven't tried the infra-red yet because of a port conflict with my GPS, which I need more right now. Thanks for the reply.
