Is it possible to replace 15" XGA LCD in R60e to UXGA FV from A31p?
I can write and solder the EEPROM with EDID, but not sure about some issues of UXGA FV LCD from A31p
- Does it fit into the R60e LID?
- Is there a place on the PCB for SEEPROM?
- Is the connector to the R60e's cable?

Re: R60e with A31p's UXGA FlewView
Hello,
Yes it is. The UXGA flexview in your A31p is most likely the IAUX14 panel, which was later on made sligthly thinner and got a new "design" with the N150U3, which is found in T42p, T43p and in some of the last produced T60ps.
People have modified the IAQX10 to fit in R60e with no problems. This screen as the exact same thickness and overall proportionas as the IAUX14.
What you will find out though is that the LCD conector is slightly lower positioned on the IAUX14 LCD, so that you might get a little cable in excess - but this won't be much.
It fits the R60e cable fine.
You will need a new EDID for the IAUX14, yes.
The EEPROM is situated on the LCD, on the green PCB on the backside. The only way you can really gain access to this would be trhough the cable, so you will need a way to make the connections this way.
What you do in order to access the EEPROM is by using the bus standard I2C. This is a simple standard relying on a clock signal, SCL, a data in/out signal, SDA and input voltage and ground connections.
To reach the EEPROM, you'll need an old 30 pin cable, which you can solder wires onto, in this order:

Afterwards you need a parallel port and a parallel to i2c adaptor as in: http://www.lancos.com/e2p/easyI2Cbus.gif
and then you will need PonyProg2000 to re-program the EEPROM with the new EDID. v2.07c works fine: http://www.lancos.com/ppwin95.html
I can supply the EDID you need, if you want to go on with this project.
