t42 bluetooth

I have a T42 2373 8zu and am sure it does not have bluetooth but apparently it can be upgraded if it has the antenna. where do i look for it? thanks!

The antenna antenna is with the wireless antenna wires. You would see 3 wires coming down from the LCD by the modem card. You need to removekeyboard, palmrest and keyboard bezel to see.n Bluetooth antenna is white. Most XGA machines don't have the antenna. I believe all SXGA+ screens do have it.

If it doent have it you might as well put one yourself as it's very easy. Just look at the hardware manual. A while ago I bought a used T43 for a relative and installed a BMDC-3(modem/bluetooth) with the bluetooth antenna. You need the BMDC-2 for the T42.

thanks for the help! mine is SXGA+ screen so when i get more familiar with it i will attempt to upgrade.

Easy mod - once you get inside just switch out the modem with the Bluetooth module. Two screws & the antenna plug.

Well I installed the bluetooth modem (actually pretty easy) It does not show up in bios? do I need to install driver or something. I,m getting the hardware jist of things but not the software part YET.

Press Fn+F5 and you can turn it on in the Hotkey utility.

If it doesn't show up in Device Manager you need to install the driver. Once that's done do the Fn F5 to to turn it on.

HI! I have no idea what to put in location profile! I followed window to update wireless adapter.

Where do I find the driver? seller says on manufacturers web site. i went to Actiontec and could not find support or driver ????

HO HUM! Now the b.t. icon shows up on the bottom task bar but says bluetooth device not found. on the desktop the icon when right clicked shows cut, create short cut and delete. In the add/remove area the b.t. program shows up .It does not show up in the device window??? I will open the computer up and check the seating of the card and try again! any more advice????

Did you do Fn F5 and turn on the BT radio? If you don't get a popup window with Fn F5 you need to install the Hotkey driver.

I finally got it!!!! re-seated card. the antenna wire was just under the card and card was not connected. i then followed your advice and it appeared. Thanks Again for your patience and help!
