sorry bud, but thats WAY too expensive for a laptop that old. I picked up a maxed out X41 Tablet from ebay for 300$. There is no way ur gonna get 320 for a X32.

I disagree with you, thinkpadinside, at least somewhat. Ultimately all depends on how much people are willing to pay, but you have to consider that the laptop is faster than an X40/X41, and really is comparable to a T42, except I haven't heard of X32 units failing due to GPU detachment. In many ways, an X32 is the pinnacle of the pre-X60 X-series, and since they were never produced in large numbers, these laptops tend to be pricey, especially the high-end ones.

This one sits well in the middle as far as specs go. If the physical condition is good, and the battery is in good shape, I'd say that the price may be reasonable, or a bit on the high side, but not WAY too high. In any case, I can't see why a much slower X40 for just $40 less is such a better deal, as you seem to think...

my apologies to the seller. I did not quite see the correct specifications. Here are the bottleneck points that the X41 does not have:

The graphics card: Mobility Radeon 7000 is rated a Class 6 Medium card, which is the lowest tier in graphics cards. GMA 900 Is rated mid Class 5, which is not very good either, had more power than the Mobility Radeon 7000.

DDR Ram: Its expensive to upgrade, its expensive to replace if a stick goes bad. DDR2 is dirt cheap, making upgrading and replacement easy

I guess you are right in saying its up to the buyer, but I am trying just to provide a good basis for people to make their decision. Just for good measure, I'll post the full specs

X32 / X41 - comments for X41
P-M / P-M ULV - lower TDP, lower perfomance, but for net/office/movies doesn´t matter
2slots DDR2 / 1memory onboard+1slot DDR2 - i think no difference
2,5" HDD / 1,8" HDD - pretty hard to find 1,8" replacement if you need, slow 4200rpm or expensive SSD
Ati7000 / GMA900 - intel is better
bigger and heavier / smaller and easier - small difference, but might be important when looking for smallest TP
better battery / worse battery - X32 can last longer, but with biggest battery it is 5hrs vs. 4hrs. - for me no difference

I think both are fine laptops, they say X41 has bit better chassis - but both are very good. X41 is newer.

All at all, 320USD for X32 would be good price with new battery and dock;)

Don't let the model numbers mislead you. The X4* line wasn't exactly a successor to the X3* line. In a way they were separate lines that coexisted for a while, and the X32 was actually slightly newer than the X40. The X31 and X32 have been depreciating slower than the X4*, probably because their use of 2.5" HDDs (versus 1.8" for the X4*) makes them more future proof. In addition, the X32 was available for a relatively brief period, so its rarity adds to its value. (Recall that the extremely rare 240Z, S30 and S31 are still worth over $200, despite the fact that they are first-generation Pentium III units.)

amrav, would you tell us the 7-character product code of this X32? Is the 1GB RAM on one or two modules? What's the rpm speed of the hard drive? Is the Windows XP Pro COA sticker still intact? How about the recovery partition on the HDD?

Hard disk speed: 5400 RPM.
XP PRO COA is intact.
I just did a fresh XP PRO install from my personal copy. So, no recovery partition.

without commenting on the rule breaking going on AND all those very large pix and that they should really be links, the X41T and X32 are really different animals..
the tablet has an IPS display..
that alone makes it a better deal than a non-IPS display thinkpad..
its also bigger but more flexible than the X32..
X32 used the standard HDD while the X40 series allused those slow 1.8 inch HDD's..

all in all, two different thinkpads and hard to compare..

Because the X32 uses a 2.5" PATA notebook drive, some choices are:

1) very fast SSD - MLC (expensive) or SLC (very expensive)

2) faster 7200rpm HD - e.g. Hitachi 100Gb 7200rpm drive

3) large 320Gb 5400rpm HD - e.g. WD Scorpio Blue

You can also add a fast Compact Flash drive to the X32 as a second SSD.

The X32 will be at the end of its useful product life when 2Gb of main memory is insufficient to run your applications.
