Get the machine type / model number from the sticker on the bottom of the machine, or from BIOS and plug it into the following link where it says 'enter a product number'.

Just to make sure previous owner did not do a board swap or base swap, get the model # from the BIOS screen. Hold down F1 at startup to get into BIOS.
Z61p (WUXGA)/2.16ghz/2gb/60gb, R51/1.8ghz/1gb/160gb, R40/1.5ghz/2gb/80gb, 600E/366mhz/416mb/20gb, Project R51 with SXGA+
