Check all the power manager settings for the wireless: Device Manager, Power Manager and Access Connections if it is being used. All three default to maximum power saving and that can turn off your wireless. I changed all of settings of my machine to maximum performance and that solved my wireless issues. ... JDH

i had similar problems on my machine and changing the power settings did not help (intel 2200bg). It is probably that my router does not want to play along with the card. I resorted to a scheduled task that pings my router constantly so that connection would not be dropped.

Ok i think i've changed all the power settings and my wireless still connected and then powered itself off after 30 seconds.

ThinkVantage System Update is working again. Try using that to see if there are any appropriate updates.

"I don't see this documented anywhere, but I figured out that you have to run the Access Connections and go to Configure|Automatic Location Switching and TURN OFF "Enable automatic location switching." You also have to go Configure|Global Settings and TURN OFF "Enable automatic wireless LAN radio control."

This appears to have solved my problem.

I worked through those settings, and I wonder if you have more than one wireless nearby. I routinely disable all individual profiles from automatic connection except for my home network. But otherwise I don't turn off the settings that you do. I shall keep pondering it as my wireless stopped collapsing months ago when I learned to turn all power settings to maximum performance. .... My wireless has now been on for at least 8 hours without powering off so it seems i have definitely solved the problem!! woohooooooo

There is indeed at least one wireless network quite nearby. It's possible i wasn't able to follow all your instructions, i did my best, so i can't be sure your method wouldn't have solved the problem also. Thanks all the same :)
