a few months back i cloned my original 160 GB harddrive to 500gb seagate 7200rpm with . i then used XP CD's on the 160 GB harddrive to have both OS's on different Harddrives. well here is the question, the xp discs seemed to have installed a DVD creator and i would like to have that software on the vista harddrive, (the 500gb seagate). Were do i get this software? is it loaded on one of the vista recovery disks? I tried installing the software from the xp one to vista and had no luck. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

The WinDVD software should be located in the SWTools folder on the C:\ drive if you saved it. You can't download it from Lenovo because the one on Lenovo's website is an update, not the full installer. If you're looking for DVD playback software, there's a lot of free ones on the net. I use VideoLAN myself, which is free.

that is correct, i was able to find the original for the vista version, but would have liked to have the dvd creator like the one that was installed fresh in xp

Never really cared for WinDVD anyway. There's better freeware software.

You know what, it's too early in the morning for me I guess....try this link. I forgot that WinDVD is separate from the Multimedia Offerings package.

Could you suggest one or two. Right now I'm using ISO Recorder 3.1 which does fine for burning ISOs, but that's all it does.

I have an R400 with a Matshita DVD Writer but for some reason neither Multimedia Offerings nor WinDVD Creator came pre-installed. (I guess because my R400 has Vista Business?)

By examining the links posted above it looks like installing Multimedia Offerings on Vista is a no-go because it's an update that won't install unless there's an existing pre-installed version already present.

WinDVD Creator doesn't have that caveat, apparently - before I go through the effort of downloading it (160 Mb), can anyone confirm that it will work as a fresh install?
