T42 Ethernet Driver which one?

I have for the first time restored my T42 2373 3UU from a Windows XP Pro disc instead of the TP Recovery. Only problem is Lenovo's System Update does not detect missing Ethernet driver. Have looked at the Device Drivers page and the one that appears to be, 7ira09ww, is not. Windows says it does not match hardware. Will appreciate any help. Thanks!

Should be the Broadcom driver. Take a look at the Device list, if the Broadcom driver is already installed, then it may be a IBM/Atheros wireless card.

The only Ethernet adapter driver listed is the one for the Intel PRO which sounds correct to me but Windows finds it does not match:

Is the intel Pro 1000 ethernet driver already in your Device Manager list? If it is, try this one:

No Ethernet Controller on Device Manager - big yellow question mark only. That link you sent me is for the wireless adapter. I don't have a problem with the wireless adapter - only the Ethernet adapter. My Atheros driver got taken care of by System Update.

After downloading it, you must go into C>Drivers>Win>Ethernet and run the setup file from there.

Thank you ... it did install but get an exclamation mark on Device Manager. Uninstalled it and tried with the Lenovo recommended one and it did install this time ... still got an exclamation mark ... arghh.

Rightclick the device with the exclamation mark and go to "properties". It should tell you what the reason for the exclamation mark is...

T42s never came with Broadcom AFAIK... Only T43s did. Check that link you just posted...
