Btw, how useful is the tap-click function with the trackpoint? It does not seem very sensitive. And adjusting the settings do not appear to make a noticeable difference.
what type of trackpoint do you prefer ?

When enabled, pressing the TrackPoint cap acts as a left mouse click.sk33 wrote:what is press to select?

I traditionally liked the feel of the soft eraser heads but I frequently take my TPs into manufacturing settings and any residual oil on my finger will cause the rubber to deteriorate.
I've switched to the "cat's tongue" cap and the problem has gone away. I didn't like it at first but it was the only one I had left at the time so I got used to it.
I still have a bag of caps left that I bought from Bill for my TP755cx plus some from 3 or 4 other TPs I've owned.

Try rubbing alcohol.budder wrote:This is sorta OT, but I want to know if there's any way to clean my cap. It's starting to get slick, and I want to keep using it. Do I just have to buy more?
Remove the cap and use a fabric of some sorts with little alcohol. Use a brush for the Cat's Tongue cap.

I use a Sony PCGA-USM1 USB wheel mouse when I'm in a fixed location. The size and performance works great for me.selvan777 wrote:I prefer to use this external mouse since the X20 doesn't have an optional touchpad. Needless to say I don't like the trackpoint at all.

That's great but I especially like the optical feature in this one.verktyg wrote:I use a Sony PCGA-USM1 USB wheel mouse when I'm in a fixed location. The size and performance works great for me.

I have large hands. The Sony is about the smallest I can use comfortably. It's about 25% smaller than a standard 1 button MAC mouse.selvan777 wrote:That's great but I especially like the optical feature in this one.verktyg wrote:I use a Sony PCGA-USM1 USB wheel mouse when I'm in a fixed location. Does the Cats tongue not come with the thinkpads? mine came with the soft cap on, and also came with a soft rim and one other. I can't figure out if the third is a traditional dome or a cats tongue. It looks like the old style eraser type but it seems to be more textured than I remember (rough) so it may be the cats tounge. I like the soft cap and the third one and I can't figure out which I prefer.

I'm confused, I just have this tiny little piece of square plastic that i have to dig the tip of my finger into and push around, my finger is usually sore and bleeding after about a half hour. is there some way to avoid this??

I use this one:

Not quite sure what it's called, but it suites my finger best. I like the rough surface.

Didn't you get the Trackpoint Pusher that should have come with your Thinkpad? In a pinch you can use a BIC pen tube after you pull out the point and ink reservoir.jack NYC wrote:I'm confused, I just have this tiny little piece of square plastic that i have to dig the tip of my finger into and push around, my finger is usually sore and bleeding after about a half hour. is there some way to avoid this??

I just got a T42, it arrived about 2 weeks ago. The soft cup sucks, I have been switching between the soft dome and the eraser thingy, still can't decide which I prefer. Maybe a hard, more textured dome would be nice. Trackpoint rocks though, im really surprised to read about people here on the forums who order a thinkpad then use the touchpad, my touchpad is dissabled and im considering getting the pamrest that covers it up.
