Resume & UltraBase = broken

#1 Post by smorgan » Wed Jun 03, 2009 3:09 pm

Hello ThinkWorld,

i have dived through 26 pages and found no related topic.
If my problem is solved somewhere in this forum i need a link.

Suspend and resume is working fine as long as my X40 is NOT in the Ultrabase X4.
If it is docked in, suspend is working, but on resume i only can get a blinking cursor.
With Crtl+Alt F1 i can see the CLI login screen and the system hangs.

It makes no different if i use the GUI, Ctrl+Alt F4 or the lid to suspend.
All i can do is a hard shutdown with the power button.

Any idea where i can have to look at (systemfiles with some hints)?

My Operating System is Kubuntu 8.04

thanks for reading

I am writing this on an X41 with dock attached, and Kubuntu 8.04 as the OS. Fn + F4 works to get the laptop both in and out of standby.
I also have an X40 which I use with Windows because I had problems with the dock in Linux. Unlike the X41 I could not hot-swap the dock because my X40 would freeze. As far as I could tell there is no fix for this and I was very surprised that the hot-swap worked with the X41. Unfortunately the CD/DVD isn't recognized until a full re-boot, which kind of defeats the purpose of hot-swapping, but that's Linux.
Maybe this is related to your standby problem.

Thanks for your reply.

I found an ugly workaround for the problem. If i suspend the X40 before i put it in the dock,
resume/suspend is working as long as it stays in the ultrabase.

Another thing i found is, on Ubuntu Studio 8.10 i never faced that problem.

I agree with you that the not working hot swap is a big downer.
