Systemboard and Upgrade questions

#1 Post by marshallfla » Thu Jun 04, 2009 2:31 pm

Well, haven't gotten any more replies on my other post so I'll look at it this way..

Should I be able to put the T3400...

Mfr Part Number: LF80537GF0481M
Process Type: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T3400
Frequency: 2.16 GHz
FSB: 677 MHz
Cache: 1 MB
Process: 65 nm
Socket: Socket 478-pin micro FC-PGA
Package: OEM

...into the systemboard for my z60m (which appears to be a 478 socket but I'm not sure if the bus speeds are the same (or if that matters))?

Yes, many will ask WHY but I can get this processor for $70 and a new board (mine's fried, see other post) for ~$250. Yes, I know I can get the same (or slightly better) system for ~$500 but that's still $200 and I can use that towards a newer/more powerful computer in ~6 months and give this one to my wife  .

Just asking. :)

Thanks.

Because of the bus speed? If so, would the 2410 (533 BS) work? If not, why? Just trying to learn. Thanks.

You're looking at completely wrong set of CPUs.

Z60m platform utilizes Pentium M with a 533Mhz FSB. The fastest CPU that your unit will take is PM 780 that runs at 2.26 Ghz, this is a Dothan with 2MB L2 cache.

Hope this helps.
