This should be an easy one. How do I schedule a boot time defragmentation in XP Pro?
I've been using the command line method for now. I don't know if thats more thorough than GUI. Thanks.

Boot time defrag in XP
Thinkpad X230 | Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 | mATX Haswell Desktop
Re: Boot time defrag in XP
Why do people with questions always tell us the questions are easy?
Look in c:\windows\system32\Grouppolicy\users\scripts\logon. Probably nothing there.
Look at the the properties of the defrag application.
Try to run it in a command shell with /? or some such to get help for the defrag command.
Set up a batch file to kick off defrag.
Store it in the folder above.
Use GPEDIT.MSC to associate the batch file with startup and it then will.
I use PerfectDisk (much better and faster) and it includes a boot time option.

Second time I've referred to the TweakHound site today: the link below has a step-by-step walkthrough, but obviously ignore the advice about selecting Monthly and choose "When my computer starts" instead.emeraldgirl08 wrote:How do I schedule a boot time defragmentation in XP Pro?
