HP5740 printer prints a mirror image only in Vista

My daughters T61 only prints a "mirror image" of what she wants to print.

She's networked fine, and the "print mirror image" option is unchecked for the networked HP5740 printer.

My R61 prints fine. Both are running VISTA.........

Any idea"s ??

Mirror image = White on black instead of Black on white? or means ?

If the printer works properly on one computer and not on the other, then I would do two things:
1. Turn of the printer (unplug it)
2. Reinstall the printer driver of the T61
Restart everything.

Why? I had a client printer that started printing on the wrong side. Turning everything off and restarting fixed that one. ... JDH

It's printing black on white, just a "mirror image" of what's supposed to be printed.

Printing "and" becomes "dna"

I turned off the printer and laptop, deleted first the driver and re-installed it.

....same problem....

HELP.

I don't know how it could mirror image exactly but is the connection to the T61 faulty in some way? Bad USB port? Also, when you uninstall the printer, can you also try deleting the driver? (Printer folder -> File -> Server Properties -> Drivers and delete the HP5740 driver). Also, is the T61 64-bit? and the R61 32-bit? ... JDH

The T61 is 32bit. USB port is fine. My R61 is 32bit also, prints correctly. I believe I deleted the driver a few times already.

The HP is connected to a XP home computer. I keep reading that that can cause problems, but my R61 is fine..

Ron, is that a USB printer? Just bring your daughters laptop over to it and hook directly via USB. That will tell you if the XP connection on the other machine is an issue or not.

I'll give it a shot Harry. This seems to be a common problem between Vista and XP. Why? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Ron - I am using Vista Business as my daily driver (and have done for months) and I am not having that problem, so good luck with Harry's suggestion. ... JDH

There must be a logical(?) explanation for this. I just installed Vista on my R51 and it prints fine. Only my daughters T61 has this problem.

What happens if "print mirror image" is checked? Does "dna" come out as "and"?

doesn't matter if it's checked or unchecked, "and prints dna".........

Time to resurect this one again........

My daughters T61 still prints a "mirror image" and now my R61i, with Vista Home Premium, does the same..

Any new ideas or solutions for this

I don't really think so. It works for my other laptops (XP) and sometimes for Vista. Maybe it's just a lack of correct Vista driver. I'm thinking about another printer, a WiFi all-in-one unit.

We're due anyway..............
