600X fail to post after motherboard replacement

#1 Post by cmarti » Sat Jun 06, 2009 7:03 pm

Hi all,

I replace the motherboard on my 600X and got one from ebay:

Thinkpad 600X System Board MotherBoard Warranty 08K3199

This one gives the 163 error as expected but stays on the blue IBM logo screen, if I change the amount of rams it shows the amount correctly but does not pass the BIOS boot screen, I cant get in the bios editing or nothing.

Any Ideas? I already remove all ram, hd, mini pci, dvd drive and battery and also remove and reset the cpu and nothing.

Thanks

In case you haven't tried it already-- what happens with all RAM modules removed (leaving just the onboard memory)?

Also, I don't know that seller, but isn't the description inaccurate? My understanding is that a non-speedstep 600X board will always run at the lower speed instead of the higher speed. Inaccurate descriptions are not confidence inspiring.
