Production periods ?
Production periods ?
After having been looking into the market for used T40-41 I got myself a somewhat newer T41. But I was wondering if data for the production times (intervals - first -> last) for the different Thinkpads are available somewhere ?. I have been able to find some data on the Lenovo website on when some models were taken off the market, but not when they started to be produced.

Re: Production periods ?
I found this list on the forum:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_History
That lists the production start, but not the finish!

Re: Production periods ?
The dates on thinkwiki are not production start dates. They are release dates.
Re: Production periods ?
Month and year info is in the various t*books, #1 in the FAQ http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1689

Re: Production periods ?
However, books do not list all models available, and there are always exceptions to the general rule...
My T43p is younger than my T60p. I'm serious. By almost six months.
It would be safe to say that the newest T41 available is probably very close to its fifth birthday, while the oldest T43 turned four a couple of months ago...

Re: Production periods ?
My T41 has 05/04 on the label on the backside, I take that as april 2005, making it just over 4 years old

Re: Production periods ?
A ThinkPad 600 I have, says 02/99 on the label on the backside.
Since 99 is not a valid month, the format will have to be month/year.
Taking that format to the T41, then 05/04 will be May 2004.

Re: Production periods ?
Well, the label on my T40 states 03/10 (and I know that it is from 2003!) which led me to the conclusion that the code is YY/MM.
Therefore my T41 code of 05/04 must be 2005, april ??????????

Re: Production periods ?
And just another piece of information to back my interpretation: When I pull the CD-RW/DVD drive out of the bay it says march 2005 on it - it could of course have been changed along the way, but I do not find that very likely.
Is it not normal in America to have dates in the format YY/MM/DD - as in 9/11
In Europe, the normal date format is DD/MM/YY so that 9/11 would be 11/9 with no meaning - since emergency calls this side of the atlantic is 122

999 here ... 112 as an alternative. I've never heard of 122 for emergency calls.hhmcsv wrote:In Europe, the normal date format is DD/MM/YY so that 9/11 would be 11/9 with no meaning - since emergency calls this side of the atlantic is 122
