Please excuse me if this is the Nth time this has been asked. I have a T41 which has the uber gpu problem(video shuts off after a few minutes). I do, however, have a fully-functional T42 motherboard without cpu/heatsink/etc.
If i understand it correctly, is it possible to pull the cpu/heatsink/ram/wifi/etc off the T41, put the T42 mobo into the T41 chassis, and then put the T41 cpu/heatsink/etc onto the T42 motherboard? Is there anything else that needs to be changed/altered/massaged with a hammer/etc?

Re: T42 motherbaord
In a simple answer? Yes.
However, depending on your GPU, I would highly advise getting a T42's 'long fan' assembly as the heat sink also covers the GPU as well as the CPU, if you haven't got one already. You should be able to get away without it if you have a MR7500 on your T42 board, but if you have an MR9600 get the long fan before swapping out motherboards.
Find and read the service manual before attempting the swap. You will need a 5mm socket to remove the magnesium 'cage' from the back of the motherboard(you 'unscrew' the lugs on the parallel port) as well as a #0 or #1 Phillips screwdriver.
I can confirm that the CPU and RAM will work in the T42 as well as I've done the same swap. I'm actually using a 14.1" T40 base as it was in the best cosmetic shape out of all the ones I have. I'm in the process of swapping out to a 15" T42 chassis, which is an entirely different beast altogether.
Hope this helps!

Re: T42 motherbaord
Ah much rad. I've got bucketloads of tools so that's not an issue, was mainly concerned about hardware compatibility etc. The heatsink i have currently is the short one, will have a hunt around, see if i can locate a long one.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
