Win 7 RC - Sleep/suspend problem

#1 Post by qfinger » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:13 pm

My T61P (6458-DK2) with Win 7 buil 7100 does not go into sleep or hibernation mode. When I hit Fn+F4 or close the lid the screen goes black but the CPU amd HDD remain on but Fan is off. The machine just heats up until it switched off. The Wireless greenligh is flickering with during this stage. Only way to come baqck from this is a cold re-boot.

I've clean installed Win 7 Build 7100 twice now - same problem.

Anyone else seen this?

BTW - Never had this problem under Win Beta.

qfinger:

Have you installed the ACPI power management driver for the machine? The Win 7 version is called "ThinkPad Power Management Driver 6hku06ww.zip" and is here.

If this isn't it then there is a Win 7 diagnostic report that you can run that may give you clues about what is preventing sleep or hibernation. Open an administrative command prompt window (right-click on cmd.exe and choose "Run as administrator"). Navigate to a convenient location on your disk where you'd like the report to be saved to; for example C:\Users\Your_User_Name\Desktop. Run the following command:

Code: Select all

powercfg -energy
Wait for the analysis to finish - about 1 minute. Then open the report in a web browser.

I just upgrade from Vista 32 to Win 7 32 RTM on my T61 (8891-CTO, IIRC). Everything else seems to be working fine, but sleep / suspend does not work properly. When plugged in on AC power, the screen will go blank but the computer never actually goes into suspend. Moving the mouse will turn the screen back on and present the Windows login prompt. Oddly, on battery power, sleep / suspend seems to work just fine. Hibernate does seem to work properly.

I have installed the latest power management driver, power management, and system interface drivers from the Lenovo Win 7 beta page, but no difference.

I have the same problem, my machine cannot resume from sleep/hibernate but a blue screen displayed and the system then restarted to a normal startup. I have the RTM version installed using those ThinkPad Win 7 Beta driver.

I see that cheng has Intel Turbo Memory on his machine. By any chance, msdowdie, do you also have Intel Turbo Memory on your machine? Is this a common denominator with those having problems with sleep mode?
