Some of you may recall that I did this with a t42p a while back, and now that I have a thinkpad again, I gave it a shot on my old board before I replaced it with a t60p board (wohoo, a dedicated gpu!). I used a 10K pulldown on FSA after removing the 10K pullup, but the laptop failed to post when forced to 200FSB.
Unfortunately, the t60p uses the same clock generator. I don't know if it was a limitation of my components or something else that cause the post failure. The board works as it did before after reverting it back to stock.
ICS954309 is the clock generator and the datasheet is freely available from the ICS site.

Which CPU do you have in that bad boy?
15-inch Core 2 Duo ThinkPad T60p | Ivy-Bridge (Late-2012) Mac mini w/ quad Core i7-3615QM 2.3GHz, 16GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM, 240GB+180GB Intel 520 Series SATA III SSD's, 5x3TB Drobo 5D

I thought about trying this also, maybe ditch the PC2-5300 memory and try with PC2-6400 sticks?
I will try it out once I get my T60 moving again...

Raceboy, if you want to refresh SPD data of your memory module(s), don't do it on IBM/Lenovo laptop because from T6x / X6x series, Lenovo BIOS does not allow access to SPD. Do it on laptops of other brands.Raceboy wrote:I thought about trying this also, maybe ditch the PC2-5300 memory and try with PC2-6400 sticks?

I still hope that someone can overclock T60/T61 but after studying a lot of pages on internet, I nearly go to the conclusion that T6x is not overclockable due to implementation of overclock prevention in their BIOS, not due to the 945/965 chipset itself as many others may think. Some facts on this topic:
- I tried to put high level on FS_A pin of PLL chip of my T60p to gain its FSB to 200Mhz: no boot with three short beeps and one long beep (do not remember correctly, but it likely points to the memory problem), but changes in memory modules did not help.
- Put low level on FS_B: works fine at 133Mhz FSB.
- A lot of people on this chinese forum successfully overclocked their X61, X61T, R61, R61i, X301, but no report about success on T60/T61 and X60. May be the problem is that we can not change voltage level on FS_A pin (but it is allowed for FS_B one)?. Also note that X and R series are designed by Winstron or Compal, etc, but not by IBM / Lenovo itself.
- Dell D630 is overclockable too, but no report on D620.
- Intel has a patent on overclock prevention, it bases on comparison of the FSB with reference frequency of real-time clock (32Mhz if I remember correctly). But I don't believe that this patent is used in 945/965 chipsets because there are a lot of overclockable laptops based on these chipsets.
