Please Help. Is this the problem of GPU?

#1 Post by scottmti » Sat Jun 13, 2009 11:37 am

It's been a year I bought this used T42P
I have been using it and I am really enjoying it. Couple of days ago out of the blue this problem happened
I'm going to try to attach two photo cause it's hard to explain it.
After couple of minute of this my screen blanks out. I know PC is still on but I can not see anything.
What should I do, I need this laptop for the presentations.
Please help.

Images are indeed indicative of a graphics chip problem. Solutions include wedging something between the keyboard and the top of the GPU, replacing the motherboard or performing a solder reflow operation. That can either be done by yourself with a heat gun, a temperature probe and some luck, or letting a professional handle it with the proper equipment.

I figure that could be the problem. I really can not spend huge amount of $ since laptops are pretty inexpensive now
I live in LA and wondering if anyone local that can do this job?
