BSOD ati2dvag.dll - Upgrade XGA to SXGA+ on R60

#1 Post by Student1 » Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:14 pm

After pulling out my old 15" XGA and putting in my new 15" SXGA+, this is what I get:
A prolem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The Problem seems to be cause by the following file: ati2davg.dll

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advance Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical information:

*** STOP 0x00000050 (0xBBF91000, 0x00000000, 0xBF01F052, 0x00000000)

*** ati2dvag.dll - Address BF01F052 base at BF012000, DateStamp 4507fe7e

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.
Restarts fine in safe mode. Has anyone encountered or know how to solve this problem?

Monitor is a Samsung H.489635.H Compatible LCD 4Z5G07419B USP6639589/USP5280371

Going to google will check back.

Is this info sufficient?

So when I look at the PC Wizard information in safe mode with the New Monitor. Under monitor type, "No information available for this item."

Thanks

On the bottom of your machine is sticker with machine type/model printed on it. George is asking for that information.

That's fine, I removed the serial # though. It is not a good idea to post it on an open forum.

I'd uninstall and re-install the video driver, see what that does...

Good luck.

Sweet. Thanks for the help. After un-installing the "ATI - Software Uninstall Utility" I had it reboot and forgot to go to safe mode to install the new Video driver, but it loaded straight into windows fine.

I installed the video driver from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62841

Now when I load up my computer, I get a "Found New Hardware Wizard" popup. Thus its detecting my new monitor, but doesn't have the correct driver for it? I notice when i move folders around very fast, it ghosts as well. I tried searching for the driver for the monitor information listed in the first post, but have yet to turn up anything.

It's looking for a Video Controller (Edit it searched online and found the X1400). Then it installed a Plug and Play driver.

But it's still ghosting. Any idea on how to fix it?
