fan control on ubuntu 9.04 or Linux Mint 7?

has anybody managed to install a fan control for either of these distros? If so which one worked, and which lappie is it installed on?

I just installed it on my R50.
Daemon (tpfand) version: 0.95
GTK+ configuration UI (tpfan-admin) version: 0.96

I used:
http://www.gambitchess.org/mediawiki/in ... an_Control
to get it running.

Worked like a charm.
