anybody tried Opera Unite?

#1 Post by mattbiernat » Wed Jun 17, 2009 4:38 pm

http://unite.opera.com/

that's the link, i've downloaded and installed oepra but still didn't have time to play with it. looks like i might switch back to opera after all. the ability to share photos, music and files directly from your computer is something that FF and IE do not offer.

any idea if this is going to beat Windows 7 home network sharing? opera seems so much easier to set up, you just select a folder and send a link and you are done. but yet again i haven't really tried network file sharing windows 7.

I believe it depends on how you wish to use it. For sharing files with friends that may not be that computer literate Opera Unite is the way to go. Based on early testing I've done just hours ago, I find it quite fast and convenient. Also from a cross platform position it's my understanding that in just weeks it will support OS X & Linux. Overall I see this as a very well engineered solution. Detractors of Opera will find ways to be critical, but that's easily ignored. This product is very stable. At this early juncture I see lots of uses, flexibility and value. The Opera team has done a fine job with Unite.
