Dead 600E
I just accquired a ThinkPad 600E (2645-4AU) today from a friend. The problem with the unit is that when I plug the computer into the wall with a known working AC adaptor, the charge light does not turn on and the computer refuses to do anything when I push the power switch. I've tried taking out the battery, but the computer still does not turn on. I'm guessing that the DC board and/or the main board is bad, am I correct? Also, if I am, would a ThinkPad 600X mainboard and DC board work in my computer?

Re: Dead 600E
As long as everything is properly seated it is most likely a bad system board. (The DC is integrated with the system board.)AlphaKilo470 wrote:I just accquired a ThinkPad 600E (2645-4AU) today from a friend. You could get a 600X board. You will also need a 600X base assembly, cpu, fan & PC100 memory.

Yes Len, but it's hardly worth the effort to shoehorn a 600X MB into a 600E lower case, and you wind up not having access to the mini-PCI slot on the 600X MB.AbsoluteRaleigh wrote:You could get a 600X board. You will also need a 600X base assembly, cpu, fan & PC100 memory.
You're better off finding a 600X lower unit on eBay Alex.

Got myself a ThinkPad 600E with broken hinges, can I repair old hinges instead of buying new ones?
