Hello,
For a good while (half a year?) now when I try to do a System Update, one of the updates is for the Power Management Driver (1.52) and always is installed first. However, the progress bar goes all the way to the last circle and stops. I've even left it to keep trying for a whole day and notta. Several other updates can't be installed if you don't choose to install the power management driver (TP Hotkey 1.31.0610 ... not important, TV Access Connections 5.30... important, TP Power Manager 1.54... important). Recently, I uninstalled the driver, and power manager, and tried to run updates again with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can complete the updates, as now I don't have ANY battery management (not that it's too critical, the battery is effectively dead anyways)?
On a side note, in the last month, I've been getting a BSoD relatively frequently. It's not always the same error, but I only have 3 seconds before it reboots to even notice what it says. One of the more frequent ones is a complaint about no_more_IRP_Stack, or something. This was fairly easily reproducible by running google chrome and Allway Sync at the same time. On another forum, I followed a suggestion to add a DWORD to the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/lanmanserver/parameters/IRPStackSize) and set it to a larger number. I messed it up originally (set to 30 in hexadecimal instead of decimal) but now have it set to 25 in decimal and things appear calmer, although I haven't had a chance to try to reproduce the problem again. It's the other BSoD's that I'm worried about but don't know what they were about. Are these logged somewhere?
Thanks in advance,
Alex

Re: Thinkpad T43 Power Management Driver won't install
Alex,
Welcome to the forum.
If possible I would download the updates manually. Then attempt to install them manually.
To view the system error log you can right click on my computer and then left click on manage. Look for event viewer in the left panel. Under system you may find what you are looking for.
To view the BSoD as long as you like again right click on my computer then left click on properties. Under the advanced tab then the bottom selection for startup and recovery uncheck automatically restart.
