I'm looking for just the right wallpaper
I'm looking for just the right wallpaper
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(would you believe the spelling checker doesn't know what to do with that?)
I've worn out all of the search engines. I've searched all of the theme sites I can find. (they're mostly copies of each other anyway.) and I still can't find the wallpaper I want.
What I'm looking for is a picture of an office, library, or living room from either the 1800's or 1950's, with a desk or table at the bottom of the screen, with enough room on it for several icons; some bookshelves or other furniture; a view of a fireplace, or out a window, etc.
If it sounds like I'm describing the "Mystery" theme wallpaper that comes with Windows, I am. So Why don't I use It? I am - for Windows ME. I want a different one for 2000.
I know I'm being ridiculously picky. But I can't be the only one who overcustomizes and still want's my ThinkPad theme to be "just right".
So where can I get the perfect wallpaper? *Any* suggestion (except for the obvious "don't be so stinking picky") would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I'm looking for just the right wallpaper
How about visiting some old house(s) or museum(s) that sport living rooms or studies or dens, the way you like them?
Take a photograph and use that for wallpaper.
Or start hunting around for documentaries of all those great mansions and estates in the UK, a lot of which are on public display, because the owners can't afford the upkeep without 'help'.
Or use some of your stash to buy a magazine/book with the right pictures, then scan that in...

Good idea, RBS, about UK stately homes. There are many in Ireland too.
It might be an idea to use 'Google Images' and 'National Tust' to find some examples of National Trust properties in the UK and what images are available.
There is probably a similar site for Ireland but don't ask me what it would be called.

not sure that you can find exactly what you're looking for here, but a very nice selection nonetheless:
