R40 2681 does not recognize Intel Pro W LAN 2100 Mini-PCI

Hi,

I have "thinkpad R40 -2681 HSG"
I have installed "91P7267 - Intel Pro Wireless LAN 2100 Mini-PCI "

I checked this link and this card is not supported for this model (R40 2681)

Is there anything I can do?

Is the card "seen" by the machine? If it is, all you need is the correct driver...

Anything "unclaimed" in the Device Manager?

Try running a "live" Linux CD and check whether the card appears there. If it does, you have a driver problem within Windows. If not, likely a defective card.

I tried with "live" linuc CD but it did not appeared...

It seems it is not supported...

It doesn't really matter whether it's "supported"...it would give you a "1802 error" on boot if it were not supported, but the machine "realized" it was there...here are the possibilities;

a) Bad connection or damaged wiring (try testing with another wireless card)

b) Defective card (see above)

c) Motherboard problem (see above)
