Given that X31 and X41 users appear to be happily running Windows 7 RC (though without the eye candy) I suspect your ThinkPads would work equally as well, too.

Yes, I even delayed the purchase of my new T400s for three days after its release date (06/26 instead of 06/23) just so I could qualify for the free Win 7 upgrade. I keep hearing more and more fantastic reviews about Win 7, I only wish I could have waited until October for my new laptop (had to have it by August for law school) so that I could have skipped Vista entirely.

T400s | 2.53 GHz | 6 GB RAM | 128 SSD | Intel 5300 | DVD-RW | Win7 Pro 64 (pre-order)

Given that X31 and X41 users appear to be happily running Windows 7 RC (though without the eye candy) I suspect your ThinkPads would work equally as well, too.

What I meant is that Win7 wants "Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB of memory (for the Aero interface)"
T-42 has 64mb video ram
R52 has 64 Mb video ram
X31 has 16Mb video ram
X41 Uses up to 128MB of main memory
So in my case I would like a laptop that would be able to use ALL the features not just some of them.
R52(2) - X41T - X40(4) - T42 - A31P - A31
A22P - A21P -A20m - 365xd - 760EL - 770Z
G40(4) G41
iMac G4 800Mhz/eMac G4 1.25Gh
Powerbook G3
Pismo 400Mhz & 500Mhz
Lombard 400mhz
PDQ 266mhz

No, because it's simply not available here.

Ha, ha, ha...

My comments "supporting" the Win7 upgrade were not based on benchmarks, which I find grossly overrated. It is an anecdotal user experience that I'm driving at. Sure, PC World has already proclaimed that Win7 is only marginally faster than Vista SP1 - but whether or not it is smoke and mirrors changing boot order, or shut down schemes, or anything else, the OS boots faster, enters and exists sleep nearly as fast as a Mac, and is far more stable on my x60s and x61s than either XP or Vista...go figure...

Indeed, if you want Aero, you need a newer laptop. Windows 7 can still be an improvement on one of your ThinkPads, but unfortunately you wouldn't be able to take advantage of quite all of it.

My comments were not directed to your post at all. I was calling myself a sucker for buying the Upgrade.
