Parus Major birds fledged this morning

#1 Post by killer » Fri Jun 26, 2009 5:53 am

This morning some Great T i t s in a nesting box in our garden seemed ready to leave the box. They kept appearing at the hole, so I aimed my telescope at the box and was lucky enough to watch them all leave. (The word 'T i t s' has been written like that because it was seen as an expletive when written properly. )

Now this may seem such a small thing in life but it really gave me a warm glow. :D

Dogs must be carried on the escalator. Where can I find a dog?

I prefer watching birds of the other variety.

While I am a great fan of watching oiseaux also, 'birds of another feather', as it were, I am also a great fan of watching real avians as well, specifically corvids. This week has seen the fledging of a number of young crows in downtown Seattle, where I work.
One industrious mating pair built their nest in the framework of one of the large "Public Market" signs in our famous "Pike Place Market". They have one successful fledgeling; loud, hungry. . .and recognizing me as the bearer of 'treats' complete with caws, wing waggles. and beak gaping :D
cheers,
Bob
