What Hard Drives will fit?

#1 Post by blackimpala » Mon Jun 29, 2009 8:32 am

I have a T43 and only know enough to get myself into trouble. I would like to upgrade to a bigger hard drive. I see lots of adds for different brands but don't know what will fit. Can someone tell me what it has to say in the add so I will know that it will fit my Thinkpad.

Thank you
Floyd

Just about all or any 2.5" IDE or PATA 9.5mm hard drive will fit and work.
But the T43 on alot of driveswill give you an error 2010.Saying it's not an IBM drive. In the bios you set it to keep booting after this error with no problems.
I have a new Samsung 160gig IDE drive in my T43P with the error and it's running great.Fast drive.
If you dont want the error you will have to look for a IBM branded drive, with the FRU # on it.Otheres here on this forum can give more info on what drives they are.
For me i have a few drives here and they all give me the error 2010.

Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for. Any tips or info on how to set the Bios to continue booting?

You need the latest BIOS (1.27) for that, and there's an option for continued boot in the BIOS itself.

If you manage to find a Fujitsu MHV2120AH drive (120GB/5400rpm) it will most likely work without an error.
