I can't disable the TouchPad?
One of the reasons I love the TP so much is the pointing stick. The touchpad just gets in my way. I've got the T400 with Vista 32 Home. I can disable the touchpad, but it keeps getting re-enabled when it reboots. I know I can unplug it, but sometimes others use it who like that silly pad.
Is this a goofy Vista thing, or am I missing something glaringly obvious?

You should be able to disable it permanently in BIOS.

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
Well, that's only slightly less obtrusive than physically unplugging it.
I still want to enable it again if I hand it over to a client to fix something in their presentation, for example.
Shutdown, bios change, reboot... it's almost faster with a screwdriver!

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
I'd preffer a working driver. Any word on Windows 7 drivers? Most of the Vista drivers work... except for the UltraNav, of course

Don't have a solution, just a "me too" that my T500 with VHP32 also re-enables the pad occasionally, although I think not on every reboot. Got tired of this and turned it off in the BIOS.

perhaps a mechanical solution is called for:
suitable piece of thin cardboard

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
I'm having an issue with several T400's whose touchpads seem to randomly reenable themselves. Haven't found a commonality yet. I have tried reinstalling the ultranav software (most recent version), to no effect. Disabling in the BIOS is not something I can let my users do as they would never be able to undo it alone should the need arise.
Has anyone had any success in resolving this issue?
Thanks!!

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
Mine doesn't seem to do it anymore, perhaps I updated the driver since I posted this?

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
I certainly did not have this problem with Vista Business 64-bit on my T61p. Vista is gone now so I have no way of verifying, but I am quite certain. I cannot use the touchpad, so I know instantly if it has been enabled.
So maybe it was your driver, or maybe it is just another "Home" anomoly. ... JDH

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
My T500 does it in 7 never in XP however i noticed that it only happens during the login screen which is still annoying but when windows starts the touchpad gets disabled again...

Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
I disabled the touchpad on my Thinkpad by just pulling the plug of the touchpad connector, I had to open up my notebook for that.
Re: I can't disable the TouchPad?
My T500 re-enables after ~30 sec.
