Hello All,
I have an X60s whose fan makes loud noises while it's in operation. Every so often, a "FAN ERROR" message will appear when I boot up (to which I just press escape and continue on merrily). I've lived with it for a few months but I'm getting pretty sick of it. Is it possible/worth it to change the fan taking factors such as price and installation into consideration? If so, how might I go about obtaining a replacement fan?
Thanks in advanced for all your help.
Sincerely,
Shien
Replacing X60s Fan
Re: Replacing X60s Fan
Remove the keyboard and blow the dust out of the old fan first. Use canned air and hold the fan blade still while using it. If that does not make the noise/errors go away. Order a new fan from Lenovo. Google 'Lenovo X60s maintenance manual' for guidance on parts removals. If it's still under warranty have Lenovo replace it.
