older versions of drivers?

#1 Post by pipspeak » Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:11 pm

Anyone know where I can find older versions of various Thinkpad drivers/utilities?

AFAIK, generally you can't. There are a few drivers that are available in older versions from Lenovo, but most aren't. You should be able to find the original drivers your ThinkPad shipped with in a subdirectory of your hard drive. On my T42, they are located in subdirectories of C:\IBMTOOLS\. Not sure about the newer Lenovo ThinkPads.

If you are looking for something specific, post a request for it and someone might post a link, or be able to send it to you directly.

I managed to find older versions of Access Connections via Lenovo, but what I'm really after are older versions of the power management driver (maybe 1.42), the hotkey utility and the intel driver package (something that supports both the 2100b and 2200bg cards).

If anyone can help, let me know. The X40 I'm trying to fix does not have much in its drivers directory unfortuantely.

Just like on T42's, the folder that contains drivers is c:\IBMTOOLS, on T6x, it is c:\DRIVERS

I don't know what it is for X series models. However, check sites like these: driverheaven.net, and driverfiles.net, etc. If you can't find one that you need, ask Intel (by way of email) to send you an older version of the driver. If you brag enough how you are an Intel customer, etc., special requests are made. Let me know if you need more help. I used to have the Intel 2200BG, and Intel 3945ABG, and now I'm waiting for the Intel WiFi 5350 Link.

Good luck!
