Work/comment area for scripts and utilities like TP Fan, 2-finger scrolling, etc

Middle button scrolling for explorer & other file managers?

#1 Post by ninjaronin18 » Sat Jul 04, 2009 2:48 pm

I was wondering if the middle button scrolling was possible for Windows explorer or other file managers. Does anybody know?

It doesn't work out of the box in Linux with Nautilus 2.26.2. I don't know how to configure it though... unfortunately.

If you have the Trackpoint tab in the Mouse Properties window of Control Panel, then, yes, you can middle-button scroll in Windows Explorer.

I see the Ultranav tab in mouse properties. However, I don't see anything that would enable me to use the middle-button scroll in Windows Explorer.

Hmm... I don't have a T61 to check out but I believe that there should be a way to enable middle-button scrolling. It's there in my X22's Trackpoint tab (scrolling or magnifying glass option). It's not in the T23 that I'm using at the moment, probably because this system does not have the proper Trackpoint drivers.

Ah, just checked a T41... You're almost there :) . Click on the Settings button in the Trackpoint section of the UltraNav tab. There should be a "Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass" option.

Yeah, I've got that enabled. It only works on scrolling for browsers though, not Windows Explorer or file managers.

Interesting... on my systems when I've enabled this scrolling option, it allows scrolling in Windows Explorer but browser (Firefox) scrolling is very "jumpy" (i.e., not smooth). Since I prefer the smooth browser scroll, as well as the proportional speed control and the fact that I can middle-click once and move the Trackpoint above and below the double-arrow icon, I keep the option off (the "neither" selection).
