Thinkpad restore CD.

#1 Post by atct86 » Fri Feb 04, 2005 5:11 pm

I called IBM Support to order the restore CD's for my T40, and at first they did not know what I was talking about.

After talking to another person, they told me that my serial number was not valid. I do not belive this as I had it repaired under warranty last month.

Is there any way of getting the Restore cd's or even a copy of them?

I would call IBM Support again at least to figure out your "invalid" serial number. This is important for next warranty claim in case your serial number really got corrupted in their database.

They call it Recovery CD Set. It's such a well known thing that they should get you a copy (at cost perhaps) without any problem.

I have a set of the Product Recovery CD for T40.

The CD's are labelled Product Recovery CD
for Thinkpad T40 2373, 2374.

The part number is 01R8046. You can go to the IBM
website and do a global search for this number, all other
part numbers for the thinkpads will also be shown.

'Hope this helps.
