760ED FORMAT COMMAND

#1 Post by pforster » Fri Feb 04, 2005 6:24 pm

Hello, I wish to format the HD in a 760ED, and reinstqall Win 98. I donot want to erase IBM's proprietary software that is installed also, such as TP configuration all the videodrivers etc. Will the format command FORMAT C:/S preserve IBM's oem software and drivers? Thanks!
Pat

Don't worry too much about the software and drivers. If you go to the search page on IBM's support site and type in 760ED, you should be able to find all of the neccesary doftware, drivers and patches to make the computer run properly.

I understand IBM's site but it is a real pain downloading their legacy drivers and extracting them to HD, plus their patches etc. Thanks..Pat

Formatting will erase an entire partition. That's often the entire drive.

IBM has excellent instructions on how to install W98 and make it work well. Please go get them, read them and follow them.
