I have calibrated mine with a Spyder3pro and compared with original setting the screen was too blue but after calibration it was ok. The latest version of that software does not give the resulting correction curves so I don't know how off the original setting as.twister6 wrote:Sorry, but display will be a real disappointment for those coming off IPS/FlexView. Since I still have T42 and continue using T60, I constantly doing A/B and the contrast of T400s is a let down (too bright, and even when you turn it down - dark colors are not as sharp/defined). I'm sure "zenit" can chime in on that since we already discussed this on NBR

Any other, perhaps free and sw-based, calibration tools you can recommend? I was given a link to check out http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast.php as a reference, but wondering if there are any other tools for LCD display calibrationtranle wrote: I have calibrated mine with a Spyder3pro and compared with original setting the screen was too blue but after calibration it was ok. There is one free blu-ray/mp4 calibration disc at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496twister6 wrote:Any other, perhaps free and sw-based, calibration tools you can recommend? But this is only for video calibration (windvd or powerdvd or your tv). The Syper3 tool create an .icm profile and it useful if you retouch your picture before print. By eyes only your can usually fix brightness and contrast but color adjustment can only be done accurately with a sensor.
Re: My T400s
I ended up grabbing a T400s and getting rid of the T400 regular. The screen on the T400s is not bad. I got the LT141DEQ8B00 which was manufactured Week 25 2009 (so very new). It is much better than the discontinued LED backlit WXGA+ on regular T400, but not as good as WXGA high nit. Colors on high nit are alot more saturated, black levels are better and viewing angles are MUCH better. The T400s screen is acceptable in my book and much easier on my eyes than WXGA+ LG panel in T400 that used to give me bad eye strain. Overall this machine is fantastic - the keyboard is the best I've ever used, SSD it is super fast and my bike commute is a little easier with lighter computer in the backpack. The only thing I miss is the 9 cell battery run time.
Re: My T400s
I'm waiting for the high-capacity Intel X25-M SSD drives I read here (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel- ... ,6913.html) are expected out later this year (it claimed they'll be as large as 320GB)...though they might be out of my price range. Their drives are available in 1.8" form factor. Since the built-in drive is slow (5400rpm), switching to SSD will improve speed and extend battery life. I plan to wait until Windows 7 available and then upgrade.
Re: My T400s
Just received mine and I think the laptop is just amazing, but the screen is just OK. X301 screen is probably a little better in quality. Overall quality is also very good, but again not quite the X301 quality. Overall, I think this is the fantastic laptop for the price at which it is sold in US.
Re: My T400s
I'd just like to point out that I absolutely love this laptop after a few days of using it. On the coolness factor it's as good as t41p, great job Lenovo.
