W500 mousepad problem and mousepad bucking

#1 Post by wiesl » Thu Jul 09, 2009 4:34 pm

Hello,

I've a new W500 and I'm having a problem with the lower mousepad:
1.) Lower mousepad doesn't work any more
2.) When working lower mousepad in bucking. That means on movement the curser jump very fast to another location.

Drivers are the latest available.

Any ideas?

Thnx.

Hello,
The correct name for the "lower mousepad" is "touchpad". I have not found any reports of the "touchpad flex" or imprecise touchpad navigation, but your best bet would be to remove the palm rest that houses touchpad (4 screws onthe back is all it takes) and see if touchpad module is not sittin properly on the chassis for whatever reason. Removing palmrest is also a good exercise in preparation for replacing the "flexy" keyboard!

BTW: OS is Vista 64 SP2

I think both issues are driver issues and not hardware issues.
1.) First issue: It works after boot and happens unexpectedly. One time it happened when I changed settings in the touchpad area.
2.) Second issue: When I'm disabling the acceleration feature of the touchpad movement is smoothly but unaccelerated (and makes long mouse movements ...)

Ok,the palmrest and keyboard was removed because of RAM and WWAN card upgrade.

As I understand it, the name "TrackPad" is used by Apple when referring to their MacBooks. I haven't seen any official Lenovo documents using this name. According to them, a ThinkPad has a TouchPad and a TrackPoint. This naming convention is used for example in Fn+F8 menu.
