White screen

#1 Post by ditchmagnet » Thu Jul 09, 2009 6:15 pm

I just replaced the motherboard on a t22 with a t20 mobo from ebay. everything works but the display. if i connect to the external it works, but just a bright white on the laptop. what should i check? is the motherboard no good? the display worked fine before, i replaced the board cause i was getting a bad bios error.
thanks

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

It sounds like it might be the replacement motherboard or that there's a bad connection of the LCD ribbon cable to the motherboard. Less of a chance that it's the connection on the back of the LCD since you probably did not disturb it during the motherboard swap.

I'd check the external VGA port to see if it's delivering a signal, although if it does work, there's no guarantee that the rest of the video system is functional.
