Have you updated any Thinkvantage software/drivers lately? Some versions of the hotkey driver (versions > 2.00) do not work properly with other Thinkvantage software, in particular Presentation Director, but they may affect the zoom as well.

I use Hotkey Driver 1.30.0609 (I have downloaded the later versions and they break a lot of stuff on my X31) and they include Fullscreen Magnifier 1.17 and On-Screen Display 3.40.

ok ...so, how do I see which hotkey driver I have on there, if not that, how do I remove that which offends and where to I get the one you mention below to put on there?

I have an old copy of Lenovo's Software Installer which can query your system's driver versions. The Hotkey Features driver is not explicitly detected, but the On-Screen Display and Full Screen Magnifier are, and on my X31, the version numbers are 3.40 and 1.17 respectively.

i ran :jhem: over here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 38953.html found version 1.31.0610 which I have installed and the result is strange ...it now does open the zoom feature, but it zooms the window SMALLER even though it shows the icon for 130% and 160% like before ...it just makes the whole screen only occupy the central portion with a big 3" black border all around ...now what?

here we go ...I am using the uninstall feature of that executable to remove it all ...then I will delete the folder to which it extracted thinking there was something corrupted in there ...then I will reinstall the hotkey features ...and then we'll see how she goes...!!

jumped over :jhem: to http://download.driverscollection.com/d ... vu08ww.exe to get 1.30.0609 version ...tryin' it now ...well, it opens the Fn-SpaceBar function but still SHRINKS the whole screen to a small central screen and when I select 160% actually makes it SMALLER ...ain't that just dandy!!

You may have LCD expansion turned off. You can turn that on in the Thinkpad Configuration utility. The LCD icon is located at the top right of the Thinkpad Configuration utility window.

I'm using version 1.54 of that, by the way. I don't see the need for X60 or X300 support on my X31.

Here's another big "thank you" for your tip. Always wondered why this feature worked well on my T43p, but not on my X31.
Thanks again!
