Everything custom you see, I got or heard about from over on the Neowin.net forums....there's a Windows Customizing & Skinning section, it has lots of good themes and wallpapers, check it out! I honestly don't remember where I got that exact wallpaper, or the one I currently have (below)...but I DO have the original files saved on my computer so just PM me and I'll be glad to email them to you!
New desktop: Large fonts, different wallpaper (soooooo beautiful, not just the car but the hills of Italy), but theme and all are the same as last time (Royal Four VS):

Sure, since several people have been asking, here's a little tutorial for installing the Royal Four theme onto your Thinkpad:
1.) Download and install the UXTheme multi-patcherto safely mod your uxtheme.dll file, so that you can install custom themes such as this one.
2.) Download the Royal Four visual style and unzip the files onto your desktop.
3.) Copy the folder "Royal Four" to the directory "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes" or whatever your main windows directory is.
If you have done everything correctly, the theme should show up under the display properties dialog box, and you can switch to it immediately. If it's not showing up, I'd try to restart first and then consult some of the threads on Neowin.
Another addon that makes this theme complete is LClock, which you see in my system tray replacing the standard windows clock. For us SXGA+ users, it is a blessing to have such a readable clock. Also the quick calendar comes in quite handy. It's a simple install, download from here: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=157465
And what's better is that if you have any questions about LClock, the creator (RCube) posts here on Thinkpads.com!!
Hopefully this guide works for some people, I just kind of made it based on what I remember doing to my virgin install of XP....please let me know if there are any errors or something I left out.

dear benz,
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
the secret was in the "uxtheme multi-patcher". wow, i'm just lost for words. the only word that poping up in my mind is "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".
w/ much appreciation and admiration,
valdi
p.s. i hope you don't mind my making some enhancements to the tutorial
- after step 1, one has to reboot
- link to royalfour theme didn't work. i think one would first have to go to "http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/10955957/"
- instead of copying "royal four" folder, one should copy "royalfour" folder and "royalfour.theme" file (both of which are inside the "royal four" folder) into the "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes" folder

New theme for the month
After going with bluecurve and LunaVX (both of which were recommended by people here, I decided to to find something new. My requirements were simply:
1) Similar to Luna/Aero - didn't want it to be too "out there"
2) Not as punchy/saturated as Luna
3) Thin taskbar
I had seen "Luna Element" on DeviantArt before, but it didn't look like it had a thin taskbar. I decided to try it out anyways - not only did it have a thinbar version, it has two, with a traditional green start menu button, as well as a subtle, smaller aero flag (the one in the picture). The minimize/maximize buttons are also more integrated and subtle. So far this looks like a keeper!

IBM ThinkPad T42p (2373-7XU): 1.8GHz/1024MB, 15" UXGA, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.
T42 (2374-3VU): 1.7GHz/512MB, 14.1"SXGA+, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.

I like the subtle, soft look of OS X, still working up the "courage" to try using one in public though
Two quick points:
First, you think we don't notice, but we all see the "LClock2" label, and we will badger and torture you until it is released!!!
Second, is that really a Tiger theme? I ask only because I thought the pinstripe look was dropped with Panther.
Can I ask which skin/conversion pack you're using?

here is the theme, I really dig the fonts it uses:
http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthre ... ight=tiger
haha, I always had LClock2 as the project name...it isn't LClock 2.0 .. sorry :p
But I am working on a "spotlight" module, hopefully using google desktop search engine. And also going to fix some of the bugs you guys have.
