anyone know Lenovo's "back to school sale" trends?

I want to order a t400 and missed the chance to get it for $599 with an led screen. Now the same configuration is about $100 more. Does anyone know when Lenovo traditionally starts their back to school sale, and what the deepest discounts usually are?

I also would like to know the practical difference in performance of the p8400 processor vs. p8600 and txxxx processors for light gaming, and basic computer performance.

I don't believe that there are any back to school sales. In fact the first time that I had asked a lenovo rep they told me that they offer no student discount. The second time, the rep game me a link that had about $100 off on everything but the SL thinkpads.
