R51 Blue screen

Hello all a new poster here, I got a R51 given to me without keyboard and such, just installed the keyboard, and I get a blue screen every time, I try to install windows xp right at the screen in begining of install where it checks for hard drives, does it every time.

I get a blue screen with the following:
Bios not fully ACPI Compliant

0X000000A5 0X00000011, 0X00000007 0XF86B33E7 0X0100000E

does that code help someone tell me why I get this lock up, only other problem is a random zero, in one place, about above center of screen

I have one stick of memory in it, and only using a IBM 20 gig IDE drive to install xp, you can see bios when you boot up and it runs ok, batt even holds a charge

but I am hopping that code tells me whats wrong, I think I got all the zero's right

plz ask away, I will check and give info to anyone that has a idea whats wrong

Welcome to our Forum.
To provide you with specific help, can you tell us the 7-character TYPE code from the IBM label on the bottom of your laptop?
Looks like e.g. TYPE 1830-ADU.
The error might be caused by an older version BIOS.
R51 (Machine types 1829, 1830, 1831, 1836) latest BIOS is 3.23, ECP is 3.04
R51 (other types) latest BIOS is 1.29, ECP is 1.04

Boot up the laptop, and as soon as you see IBM on the screen, press the F1 key. This will bring you into the BIOS.
On the first BIOS screen you will see the BIOS version and Embedded Controller Program (ECP) version.
Please report back with the result.

Hi there thx for the questions, didn't know what info to put

its a type 2888 GSU even has 5/09 on bar/tag for type

bios info

version 1.23 (1VET65WW)

embeded 1.04

I think I got it right, lol, thx for your help, will happily answer any other info questions

If you have your own XP disk, you can install that and get all the required drivers, BIOS updates etc. here:

Looks like you have an old BIOS, update it first to 1.29 from the above link. Your ECP is OK.
Then try installing again.

Well I tryed putting the file on a cd, but without windows, I can't update the bios, unless you have a way, the IBM file says click on in windows, I can't get that far, the bios screens show and don't go away, only when I try to install windows the blue screen shows right up, so how do I update bios with just a dvd player, no floppy on this?? ideas??

Without Windows running, you need to get a floppy drive.
Look for a USB floppy drive on e.g. eBay, something like this:

You can also try this first, it might work:
BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS settings:

1. Turn off the system.
2. Turn on the system.
3. While the To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.
4. Press the F9 key to load default configuration.
5. Select Yes.
6. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit.
7. Select Yes.
