T42 just died, where do I start?

My T42 freezes up shortly after startup. I can power down and re-start it a few times until it won't power up again, the fan continues to run however, but it doesn't boot up.

Just before it freeze, the screen becomes slightly blurred, almost vibrates and then locks up.

Where do I begin?

You could try a reflow or get another R50/R51/R52 mainboard with an Intel IGP instead of the ATI one.
You can't get an Intel IGP when you have a 14" 1400X1050 model. (Resolution not supported in Video bios microcode yet).

Intel GPU in R5x do support SXGA+. But there is no 14 inch SXGA+ cable, only SXGA+ cable.
