T42 WLAN problem: DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
T42 WLAN problem: DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
Have problem with my T42 (2374 BW7) running under XP SP3, no other updates installed.
Wired network works fine, no problems with IP config, DHCP, connections, etc. But wireless works only sometimes. I am connected via D-Link DI-624+, wlan is configured as WPA-PSK and all other machines like PCs and mobile connect perfectly, only T42 has problem. It looks like T42 is not allowed to get IP from DHCP. Error message in AcccessConnection says that I ahve to check my DHCP settings (which are OK!), browsing via AccessConnection DEBUG LOG I see lot of entries like this:
ERROR Access Connections( magda(Prvlg).3412.2748) [7/15]11:50:31:584 CAcCryptHlpr::DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
I tried to use simple WEP instead of WPA-PSK - no progress, still no connection in most cases. I also tried to connect directly via XP application (no with Access Connections) - the same case.
Any hints from you? What to check now?

There are two types of encryption under WPA-PSK, AES and TKIP. Which one are you using? What are the Workgroup names?

WPA-PSK TKIP.
And concerning workgroups - what do you mean? Workgroup of computer defined in XP?
Moreover - I saw somewhere that there is known bug with conflict between Ethernet and Wlan drivers after upgrade to newest version via Lenovo Update. Could you suggest what version of drivers you have installed for your 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II and Intel(r) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection?

intel PRO/1000
Driver version 8.7.9.0
Atheros AR5008 Wireless (generic 11n card)
Driver version 7.4.2.134
If you sent the client to fixed IP address, does it work?

Re: T42 WLAN problem: DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
I got my T42 at work now where I also have D-Link DI-624+ router. Tried with newest drivers here - no wlan connection. After reinstallation of drivers to:
11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter II
Atheros
4.1.2.156 (2007-05-02)
Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection
Intel
7.2.17.101 (2004-10-26)
it started to work with WPA-PSK (TKIP)!
I will check at home later to confirm if downgrade of drivers is the working solution.

Is there a firmware update for the D-Link DI-624+?

Re: T42 WLAN problem: DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
It works at home finally! So I suppose it was really drivers related problem and the set mentioned by me above may be solution here. I dont want to check any other pairs of drivers having T42 working via wlan.
Last firmware installed, moreover it works with any other hardware (T23 with D-Link wlan card installed, Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook 6410 and Nokia E51), only T42 had problems with connection.sjthinkpader wrote:Is there a firmware update for the D-Link DI-624+?
