Any updates to the T400 in the near future?

#1 Post by CrazyJeeper » Wed Jul 15, 2009 11:32 pm

I'm looking to replace my 15" T42 that has been slowing down to a craw, even after reinstalling XP. I've been looking at something thin and light and I'm really not impressed with anything out there except for the Macbook Pro 13"....as much as I don't want a mac, the build quality and what it has to offer is looking better day by day. I've been eyeballing the T400 but I am really disappointed that the WXGA+ LED screen has not been offered for the past few month and with no light at the end of the tunnel, so it looks like CCL screen is the only option short of getting the T400s, but I'm not thrilled about the integrated graphics. My max budget is $1,500 and took notice of some coupons that are available on this site. Are there any plans at all in the future to release a T400s with a discreet graphics card or any new of the T400 getting rehashed?

What are you doing with your T42 that makes it slow to a crawl? Maybe there's something amiss.

I don't think there's anything special about the LED screens, other than they're brighter with a bit better battery life. Image quality wise they're no better and in some ways worse.

If you want a good screen perhaps you should be looking for a T60 with IPS. That'll get you up to a Core 2 Duo and the screen can't be beat, though it's not thin and light.

if you are looking for a good quality panel on T400, get the WXGA hit nit. The difference between it and WXGA+ LED panel is insane. I posted some pictures comparing WXGA+ LED with High Nit LED and further down the thread with a high quality IPS monitor.
