T60 does not recognize Intel 3945ABG FRU 41w1027

While buying parts for my project t60 1952-AS2, I bought an Intel 3945ABG fru 41w1027.( it was advertised as 100% compatible). I assembled everything today and everything works except the wireless. The card does not show up in the bios or device manager. I have loaded the latest drivers from Lenovo and intel but no luck. The weird thing is, it does not give an 1802 error. It just does not show up anywhere.

I thought maybe the slot was bad or the motherboard had a problem, but I tried an Atheros card from my R60e (fru 39t5578) and it works fine.

Obviously I will return the Intel and buy an Atheros, but I was wondering if this was a problem anybody else had run across. I search the forum posts but could not find anything.

Several thoughts:
1. I have that card in my T61p and it works great.
2. It is made for that machine which is why no 1802 error (I not entirely certain about this, but I believe so).
3. I have an Atheros card for my T61p and it did not work well with Vista 64-bit, whereas the Intel works great.
4. Might it, after all, be a bad card.

T60 here (and 1952 at that) with an Intel 3945ABG working without issues. I bought the machine second hand but I'm quite confident it came originally with this card. Try cleaning the contacts on the card maybe?

FN-F5, enable the wireless radio. Make sure the wireless switch in 'on' on the front of the T60.

Thanks for the reply's, I have the wireless enabled in bios, the switch in front is on. Since the Athreos card works, I think it is probably a bad card. I'm glad to hear that the Intel card works with a T60, I have one in my R51 and it works fine.

I will probably go with the Atheros card, since it was what originally came with the computer.

I've seen it on a Z60t. I tried two known-working 3945abg's, but neither was recognized in any way. Both worked in other computers. The IBM/Atheros worked fine.

Thanks for the info Underclocker. Must be some strange conflict. I tried the card in the R60e that I pulled the Atheros card from, and it wasn't recognized there either.

Back for refund it goes.
